RECOGNITION OF SCHOLARSHIPS AND ACADEMIC HONORS
Purpose: To provide guidelines for the presentations of scholarships and other academic awards.
Policy: All scholarships that are to be presented to students in a ceremony, as determined by the
scholarship guidelines, shall be presented at Senior Awards Night. The high school Principal
shall have the responsibility of scheduling the annual Awards Night for this purpose.
Academic honors, such as recognition of honor students and students earning a 4.0 grade point
and above, shall be recognized at Commencement.
The student who has the highest grade point average (GPA) shall be considered the class
valedictorian. The second highest GPA shall be considered class salutatorian. Ties in GPA will
be considered co-valedictorian and/or salutatorian.
Any awards that are not defined in the above shall be presented at Senior Awards Night.
