CONFIDENTIALITY OF STUDENT RECORDS
Purpose: To provide for the confidentiality of student records.
Policy: The District shall be in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
of 1974 and all rules issued on or after June 17, 1976, to implement the Act.
Pursuant to Iowa law, the Board has determined certain records need to be confidential as their
disclosure could jeopardize the safety of persons or property and include, but are not limited to,
the following:
 Security procedures
 Emergency preparedness procedures
 Evacuation procedures
 Security codes and passwords
The Superintendent shall develop rules and procedures to be approved by the Board.
