PROGRAM FOR AT RISK STUDENTS
Each school in the Anamosa Community School District shall establish a child study team to
address programming and intervention for at risk students. The make-up of the Child Study
Team shall be at the discretion of the building Principal, but shall include at a minimum the
following individuals: Building Principal, or designee, Guidance Counselor, Special Education
Teacher, and individuals who work with the child.
The building Principal shall have the responsibility of providing team members opportunities for
professional development to enhance their performance on the child study team.
The child study team may receive referrals of at risk students from staff members, Grant Wood
Area Education Agency or outside organization personnel, parents, other students, or the student
him/herself. The child study team shall inform the parents of any student who is referred to the
child study team for evaluation. The parents of any student referred to the child study team may
request to meet with the child study team.
If the child study team determines that a student is at risk, a recommendation will be made to the
parents outlining the most appropriate at risk interventions for the student. The parents of a
student deemed to be at risk shall make the final decision regarding placement of their child in an
at risk program.
