COLLECTION OF FEES
Purpose: To provide a process for collection of outstanding fees for auxiliary services
such as preschool and day care.
Policy: The Board authorizes the collection of fees for preschool tuition and child care
services. To encourage prompt payment, the Board authorizes a late fee charge of $5 per
week.
If the fee for the program is unpaid at the end of the month, the principal or director is
authorized to proceed with collection procedures, including exclusion from the program.
For any fees at least two months past due, the parents shall be contacted by the Business
Manager for a meeting to set up a payment arrangement. The arrangement shall be
signed by the District and parent, when possible.
The Board further authorizes the District to file small claims action through the District
Court for those balances the District has been unsuccessful collecting after reasonable
attempts set forth above. The small claims process will be filed by the District Business
Office with the approval of the Superintendent.
The district may choose to seek the services of a collection agency to facilitate the
process.
