Patti Timp – 31 Years in District
Life and Career History:
Patti graduated high school in 1984 from Starmont High School. She received her BA in education from William Penn University in 1988. Patti married Ron Timp in 1988 and had 3 children, Maisie, Taylor and Gavin. Patti and Ron have lived in Anamosa since 1993. Their family has expanded to include two son-in-laws, Austin and Jordan and a daughter-in-law, Madisen. They also have 4 granddaughters, Wren, Ivy, Reese, and Dove and a grandson, Knox. Patti is looking forward to spending more time with her family.
Favorite Memory:
“My favorite memory will always be watching my own children walk across the stage at graduation.”
Ron Timp – 33 Years in District
Life and Career History:
Ron graduated high school in 1984 from Starmont High School. He received his BA from William Penn University in 1988. Ron married Patti Moeller in 1988 and has lived in Anamosa since 1993. Ron and Patti have three children, Maisie, Taylor, and Gavin. Their family has expanded to include two son-inlaws, Austin and Jordan and a daughter-in-law Madisen. They have four granddaughters, Wren, Ivy, Reese, and Dove and a grandson, Knox. Ron looks forward to spending more time with his family.
Favorite Memory:
Ron’s favorite memory is when West Middle School used to host the Golden Richard golf outing.
Sue O’Brien – 27 Years in District
Life and Career History:
Sue began teaching pre-school in 1990, and also did Before and After School program in Chicago along with subbing from 1991-1994. From 1994-1999 Sue taught K-6 Science, 7-8 Computers and K-6 Talented and Gifted; 14 preps a day at St. Katharine’s -St. Mark’s College Preparatory School in Bettendorf. Sue came to Anamosa in 1999 and has been teaching grades 5 – 8 Family and Consumer Science at the middle school for 27 years.
Favorite Memory:
The “Old Bat Award”, PTAFF and the Golden Richard awards and many, many more
Dean Miller – 18 Years in District
Life and Career History:
Dean graduated from CR Jefferson in 1982 and then Cornell College in 1986. Dean was fortunate to compete in wrestling at Cornell and that started on a 30 year coaching path. He started coaching at Mt Vernon HS for the 1986-87 season, then went back to Cornell and coached the 1987-88 season. He then went on to Upper Iowa University from 1988-1995. From 1995-2000 he coached and taught in California at Clovis HS and Golden West HS. Dean then moved his family back to Iowa to be closer to family. He started at Springville HS coaching and teaching from 2000-2005. Durant was next on his stops, from 2005-2008. Then he made his last teaching and coaching stop here at Anamosa HS in 2008 until the present. Over the years he has been fortunate to coach many State Qualifiers, Place Winners, NCAA Qualifiers, All Americans, and was fortunate enough to coach an NCAA Champion at Upper Iowa. Dean likes to tell people that he started in education in kindergarten and never left. “I think I’m finally going to graduate.”
Favorite Memory:
“My favorite memory is being given the opportunity to work with so many wonderful teachers, coaches, and students here at Anamosa HS for the past 18 years. I’ve made many good friendships over the years and hope to continue those in the future.”
