Regular Meeting

April 19, 2010

 

 

 

The Anamosa Board of Education met in regular session on April 19, 2010, at 7:00 P.M., in the

West Middle School auditorium with President Tiedt presiding.Members present: Bieber,

Riniker, Sellnau, McKean and Crump.Director Darrow was absent.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Riniker to adopt the agenda, as corrected.Motion carried 6-0.

It was noted the AEA 10 individualized profile report will be given at the June 7th board meeting.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Bieber to approve the consent agenda (minutes dated 3/15, 3/29

and 4/5, claims, financial reports and personnel appointments/adjustments), as submitted.

Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Sellnau to accept the official canvass for the School Bond

Election that was held on April 6th.†† Motion carried 6-0.

 

Larry Burger and Maggie Burger, representatives from Speer Financial, Waterloo were present to

make a presentation to the Board regarding the zero percent construction bonds concept offered to schools in Iowa and supported by federal dollars.After hearing his presentation, it was decided this option should be explored further.It was moved by Director McKean and seconded by Director Crump directing the administration to make an application for $12,420,000 in the tax free bonding program.Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Bieber to approve shared teaching agreements for instrumental

music and elementary music(grades 5-8)with Olin Consolidated School District.Motion carried

6-0.

 

Motion by Sellnau, seconded by Riniker to adopt program fees for 2010-11 school year, as

submitted.Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Riniker to hold Board meetings in the Strawberry Hill Computer

Lab for the summer months of June, July and August.Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Sellnau to approve the Cooperative Food Purchasing Agree-

ment with the Iowa Educators Consortium for the 2010-11 school year.Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Sellnau, seconded by Crump to approve the Jones Regional Medical Center Disaster

Plan Agreement, as submitted.Motion carried 6-0.††††

 

Motion by Sellnau, seconded by Crump to approve the 2010-11 Secretary/Paraeducator settlement, as submitted.Motion carried 6-0.


Motion by Riniker, seconded by Bieber to go into closed session, at 9:10 P.M., as provided in

section 21.5(l)(i), Code of Iowa, of the open meetings law to evaluate the professional comp-

etency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered

when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individualís reputation as that

individual has requested a closed session.Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Bieber to come out of closed session at 10:05 P.M.Motion

carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Bieber to adjourn at 10:06 P.M.Motion carried 6-0.
