Regular Meeting

February 15, 2010




The Anamosa Board of Education met in regular session on February 15, 2010, at 7:00 P.M., in

the high school library with President Tiedt presiding.Members present: Bieber, Riniker,

Darrow, Sellnau, McKean and Crump.


Motion by Riniker, seconded by Sellnau to adopt the agenda, as printed.Motion carried 7-0.


Motion by Darrow, seconded by Crump to approve the consent agenda(minutes dated 1/18 and

1/19, claims, financial reports and personnel appointments/adjustments), as submitted.Motion

carried 7-0.


Linda VonBehren, District Business Manager, reviewed budget matters with the Board to in-

clude line by line budget saving suggestions proposed by staff, administrators and board

members.If all suggestions were implemented, approximately $500,000 could be cut from the

budget.Budget talks for 2010-11 will continue with some hard decisions to be made as the

Board and the District move forward.


Motion by Darrow, seconded by Bieber to approve the attached resolution that calls for a special

election on the issuance of bonds to be held on April 6, 2010.Motion carried 7-0.


Motion by McKean, seconded by Crump to set the public hearing for March 1, 2010, at

7:00 P.M., in the high school library for the purpose of requesting an Early State Calendar

Waiver for the 2010-11 school year.Motion carried 7-0.


Motion by Darrow, seconded by McKean to approve a three year Student Teaching and/or

practicum student agreement with the University of Iowa and a Student Teacher/Field Exper-

ience Agreement with Cornell College for 2010-11.Motion carried 7-0.†††


Motion by Bieber, seconded by Riniker to go into closed session, at 8:45 P.M., as provided in

section 21.5(1)(i), Code of Iowa, of the open meetings law to evaluate the professional compet-

ency of an individual whose performance is being considered to prevent needless and irreparable

injury to that individualís reputation as that individual has requested a closed session.Motion

carried 7-0.


Motion by Darrow, seconded by Crump to come out of executive session and adjourn immed-

iately at 10:05 P.M.Motion carried 7-0.†††††
