Regular Meeting

The Anamosa Board of Education met in regular session on December 7, 2009, at 7:00 P.M., in

the high school library with President Tiedt presiding.Members present: Bieber, Riniker,

Darrow, Sellnau, McKean and Crump.Also in attendance was student council representative,

Karmen Vargas.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Sellnau to adopt the agenda, as printed.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Riniker to approve the consent agenda(personnel appointments/

adjustments), as submitted.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Riniker to approve the second reading of board policy

#RP402.1C - Early Retirement Incentive Plan - Certified Staff and RP402.1 - Early Retirement

Incentive Plan - Classified Staff.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Crump to approve the 2010-11 Modified Allowable Growth

Application for Dropout Prevention, as presented.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by McKean to approve the Resolution of Intent to levy an instruct-

ional support surtax(8%)and property tax, not to exceed 9% as printed and set a public hearing

for January 4, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Darrow, seconded by Riniker to approve the new courses and changes to the current

courses of study for the AnamoaHigh School program for 2010-2011.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Bieber, seconded by Sellnau to approve the purchase of a used 1997 84-passenger

Bluebird bus for $6,500.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Darrow, seconded by Sellnau to approve a Letter of Agreement between the Anamosa

Community School District and the Linn County Emergency Management Agency for transpor-

tation resources needed for an emergency evacuation.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Darrow to approve Education Service Agreements through the

Monticello Community Schools and Maquoketa Valley Schools with the Anamosa Community

School District.Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Darrow, seconded by Riniker to approve a 4% increase in Rainbow Daycare rates and

a 3% increase in Kids Quest rates.Also, approve a 2% increase in daycare wages for full time,

part time regularly scheduled staff, and seasonal staff employed more than one year.Motion

carried 7-0.


Motion by Riniker, seconded by Crump to go into closed session, at 9:00 P. M., as provided in

section 21.5(1)(i) of the open meetings law to evaluate the professional competency of an in-

dividual whose performance is being considered to prevent needless and irreparable injury to

that individualís reputation as that individual has requested a closed session. Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Darrow to come out of closed session and immediately adjourn

at 10:10 P.M.Motion carried 7-0.
