Regular Meeting

September 3, 2013

 

 

The Anamosa Board of Education met in regular session on September 3, 2013, at 7:00 p.m., in the high school library with President Tiedt presiding.  Members present:  Crump, McKean, Riniker, Kilburg, Lambertsen and Behnke.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Riniker to adopt the agenda, as amended.  Motion carried 7-0.  It was noted item 5B (athletic field engineering options) under old business will be discussed at the next meeting.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Behnke to approve the consent agenda (personnel appointments/

adjustments), as presented.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Superintendent Lisa Beames asked if there was anyone present that had questions or wished to comment about the deconstruction project at the West Middle School property.  No one present had any input.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by Crump to award the West Middle School Deconstruction bid to Lansing Brothers Construction for $181,800.  Alternate #1(suitable fill) at a cost of $9,000 was rejected.

Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by McKean to donate the auditorium rigging to the Starlighter Community Theatre group.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Kilburg to approve the phase 1 tree planting proposal for the Anamosa Middle School.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by McKean to approve Team Services to provide Geotechnical testing for the high school fitness center project.  Base bid is $3,280.  Excavation, concrete observation, compaction testing, concrete testing and sample pick-up.  Proofroll oberservations $39/hr., Proctor tests $95/ea. Trip charge $0.79/mile and Principal Engineer $105/hr.  Motion carried 7-0.  

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Lambertsen to approve Brain Engineering to provide surveyor services at the high school fitness center project.  $1,000 to provide one set of construction staking.  In addition, restaking hourly rate is $150/hr. for a two man survey crew, plus mileage.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, Seconded by Behnke to approve A & L Rolloff to provide waste disposal services at the high school fitness center project.  Costs will be $130 for pick-up, $38/ton.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Lambertsen to approve Select Service to provide portable restroom service for the fitness center project at a cost of $85 a month.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Crump to approve Delancy Electricís bid of $26,128.00 to provide electrical services for the Athletic Facility and Renovation Project (fitness center) at the high school.

Motion carried 7-0.

 

 

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Riniker to approve an agreement with St. Paulís Lutheran Church for the temporary relocation of fitness center equipment and activities while the fitness center is being remodeled.  Motion carried 7-0.  It was noted the administration should have another site in mind in the event this agreement is not finalized.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by Riniker to approve the sale of a 1999 Buick Century to Derek Roberts for $500.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Kilburg to approve a field trip for FFA students to the National Convention in Louisville, KY October 30 Ė November 2nd.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Crump naming Connie McKean to be the Boardís representative at the 2013-14 IASB Delegate Assembly in Des Moines on November 19th.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Behnke to cast the Districtís ballot in favor of Pam Jacobs for director of District Number 2,  GWAEA board of directors.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Crump to approve ClaimAid as the Medicaid billing service provider beginning January 1, 2014.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by McKean to approve a fence agreement with the City of Anamosa that will allow Curtis Weaver to put up a fence on his property that is adjacent to school district property.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Riniker to adjourn at 8:45 p.m.  Motion carried 7-0.
