Regular Meeting
October 15, 2012

 

 

The Anamosa Board of Education met in regular session on October 15, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., in the High School Library with President Tiedt presiding.  Members present: Crump, McKean, Riniker, Kilburg, Lambertsen and Behnke.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Riniker to adopt the agenda as revised by moving New Business item #3 to #2 and item #2 to #3.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Crump to approve the consent agenda (minutes dated 9/17 and 10/1, claims, financial reports and personnel appointments/adjustments) with the exception of tabling the Head Girls’ Soccer position.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Kilburg to approve change management issue No. 55256 – unused carpentry & labor hours.  WP06A Carpentry: Garling Construction Inc. - change order  No. 8 credit back to Owner the unused carpentry and labor hours. This will generate a credit back to contingency of ($26,505). Motion carried

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Lambertsen to approve change management issue No. 55257 - unused labor hours.  WP 04A Masonry:  Seedorff Masonry, Inc – change order No. 9 credit back to Owner the unused masonry labor hours. This will generate a credit back to contingency in the amount of ($13,475.70).  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Behnke to approve WP 11B Iowa Direct Equipment and Appraisal to install volleyball floor insert sleeves at a cost of $1,800.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Crump to approve revisions in game line color selections at a cost of $202.  This change will be funded with monies from contingency.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by Kilburg to approve two invoices from WP 31A Ricklefs Excavating  at a total cost of $4,146.24 for additional rock.  The rock was used on the main entrance during the winter and for additional rock and equipment to raise a portion of the sidewalk elevation.  These invoices will be funded from general conditions. Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Behnke to approve the move of the construction trailer to allow the completion of excavating and pouring of sidewalk. The cost of the move will be $912 to provide power and internet hookup changes.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Lambertsen to advertise a salary range of $115,000 to $125,000 for the superintendent position.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Kilburg, seconded by Behnke to approve the superintendent search be for full-time, 1.0 FTE and the level of benefits to be offered as submitted.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by McKean, seconded by Crump to format the initial contract offered a new superintendent as a two-year contract, not a rolling two year contract.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Lambertsen to approve the revised contract with S. Patrick’s for 4 year old preschool.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Lambertsen, seconded by Crump to approve the resolution accepting the sale of the Highway 64 property.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Behnke, seconded by Kilburg to approve an additional 4 weeks at 35 hours per week for technology assistance.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Riniker to approve early graduation requests from the following students:

Motion by Riniker, seconded by Lambertsen to approve the addition of four general education paraeducators, one for each kindergarten classroom, due to larger class sizes.  The positions will 3.25 hours per day.  Motion carried 7-0.

 

Motion by Crump, seconded by Riniker to adjourn at 9:35 p.m.  Motion carried 7-0.
