Welcome to Strawberry Hill Elementary!!
Welcome to Strawberry Hill Elementary!! We are proud of our school and show The Raider Way every day. Your child’s academic and social success is our top priority and we work alongside our families to help our children learn and grow every day.
We are pleased to introduce new staff members this year. Jess Luetkemeier will be teaching special education. Nicki Plachetta and Theresa Kent will be teaching second grade. Julie Rice is our new ELP teacher. Jen Fisher has transferred from Anamosa Middle School to Strawberry Hill and will be teaching third grade. Brooke Peterson has transferred from the 3-year old preschool program to a first grade teacher.
We are excited about using the framework of Professional Learning Communities in our school and district this year. Teams from each building throughout the district attended training this summer. This structure along with our new school calendar is a great combination to help our students be successful.
We are also implementing new math curriculum this year. The district has purchased Go Math published by Houghton Mifflin Company. We use Journeys reading from Houghton Mifflin and the Daily 5 framework for our instructional time. We are in our fourth year of implementation of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), which has been a powerful framework for expectations throughout Strawberry Hill. Our four common expectations are to Be Safe, Be Ready, Be Kind and Be Respectful. This is The Raider Way.
Technology plays an important role in the classrooms, which are equipped with iPads or ChromeBooks and document cameras. New projectors and interactive white boards are installed in homerooms. We are excited to be able to use these tools to enhance our children’s education.
The 2016-2017 school year will be a great one…WELCOME!!
