Role of the Board

The Board of Education is established by the Constitution of the State of Iowa and the statutes enacted by the Iowa General Assembly. The Board sets policy and provides general direction for the school district in accordance with the laws of Iowa, policies and regulations of the District and the expressed will of the community.
 

The Board of Education has seven members who are each elected for a term of four years (or complete an unexpired term of a regularly elected member).  All members shall be elected from at large.

 

Board Meetings and Agenda 

Regular Board meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Administrative Offices Building, 200 S. Garnavillo Street, Anamosa on the first and third Monday of each month. 

 

Board meetings, including discussions and actions, are generally conducted in open session. The Board only convenes in Closed Session, as provided by the Iowa Open Meetings Law, to discuss such things as personnel evaluations, litigation, real estate purchases, and student expulsions. Notices of Board meetings are provided to the public through posting at the Administrative Offices Building and through announcements to the local media. Agendas for meetings are posted on this Web site no later than Friday prior to each Monday Board meeting .
