Please tell anyone you know who is interested or has kids around the middle school and high school age group about this upcoming event in September! The target audience is 5th graders and up and their parents, but anyone is welcome to come hear Dr. Richard Newkirk speak about protecting young minds from the effects of drugs and alcohol. This is for the whole county on Tuesday, September 25 at the Anamosa High School Performing Arts Center. We’ll have free pizza for all with serving starting at 5:30, then Dr. Newkirk will speak from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. While the kids get an opportunity to touch a cadaver brain at 7:30, the parents can take a look at a mock teenage bedroom scene called “Hidden in Plain Sight” set up by Curt Wheeler, ASAC Prevention Specialist. Several years ago we had Dr. Newkirk speak at each of the middle schools for family nights and people loved hearing him. The high school student advocacy groups got to hear him for a short presentation at the Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Day on the Hill this past winter and wanted to hear him more. Mark your calendars for a great night!
