Dear ELP Parents,
During the mid year of 2014-2015, parents of identified ELP students were invited to attend a meeting about the current services their student was receiving. This information, as well as, that from student interviews and other available data points was used to analyze and evaluate Anamosa Community School District’s current talented and gifted programming compared to what is considered high quality programming within this field of learning.
The finding of this evaluation has led and is leading to changes within our programming for talented and gifted students. A draft plan detailing future programming has been completed. It has been or is being presented for feedback to all teaching staff within Anamosa Community Schools as well as the ASCD Board of Education. An opportunity for parent perspective related to the content of this draft will be provided on January 13, 2016 at 5:30 in the Board Room located in the District Office at 200 S. Garnavillo Street.
This draft is available online at http://tinyurl.com/elprevision or a print copy may be picked up at the district office.
In a review of this draft, you will find programming changes in several key areas including student identification and program continuation, service delivery structures and subject/grade accelerations. It is recognized that there are and will be emotions around some or all of these programming changes. This is appreciated.
We thank you for your time and care for the education of your student(s) and hope to see you on January 13th.
